He had a ten-year career as a professional footballer, playing for Wimbledon and Wycombe Wanderers.
He began his career with Wimbledon as an apprentice on leaving school in July 1989, turning professional for the 1991-92 season and making his debut in the Football League First Division against Norwich City in a 1-1 draw on 25 April 1992. Although he would remain with the Dons for a further eight years, he was never a regular first team player and never played more than six league games in a season for the Dons. He had a loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers in the 1995-96 season, scoring three goals in seven Division Two games, and finally left the Dons on a free transfer on 7 July 2000 - having played a mere 28 league games and scored four goals. His departure coincided with Wimbledon's relegation from the Premier League after 14 years of top flight football, and he signed for Wycombe Wanderers, making 18 league appearances over the next two seasons before finally retiring as a player at the age of 29. While at Adams Park, he played under his old Wimbledon team mate Lawrie Sanchez, who was Wycombe manager.[1]
He later coached AFC Wimbledon Ladies.
After football, he was featured on Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is for BBC1, and modelled for companies such as DKNY and Topman.
His wife is TV presenter Lucy Alexander. Stewart Attended Teddington Secondary School, Broom Road, Teddington.
